Mmm, theres nothing like a creamy dish of chicken alfredo. This pasta dish is the epitome of comfort food, especially when paired with a glass of chilled white wine.

Sadly, because its filled with carbohydrate-laden and heavily processed wheat noodles and heavy cream its also on that every once in a while menu rotation. (Even though I would honestly prefer to eat it every night!)

If you try to enjoy it too often, you may start to feel your pants getting unpleasantly tighter. And while I LOVE chicken alfredo I dont exactly want to sacrifice my waistline just for some delicious, creamy flavor. Its a hard choice to make!

Enter: this amazing, lightened-up chicken alfredo recipe (that doesnt TASTE lightened-up).

Sleep Like a Baby: Using This Blend of Exotic Herbs and Spices

It uses real parmesan cheese and zucchini noodles (zoodles) to sneak in a serving of vegetables while also making it healthy enough that you can enjoy it every week. (Or if youre like me, maybe every night for a week.)

And if you serve it with a small glass of wine, youll get no judgement from me!

So, lets get started with this creamy, delicious alfredo recipe that tastes indulgent but will inspire zero guilt:

Why Zucchini Noodles Are A Great Addition To Chicken Alfredo

Now, you probably noticed right away that one of the major ingredient substitutions in this recipe is the noodles.

Many people have heard of zoodles (or zucchini noodles) before. They even had a moment in the spotlight a year or two ago, when tons of recipes featured zoodles in place of pasta noodles as a low-carb alternative.

Joint Pain GONE: Without Harmful Prescription Pills (Heres How)…

And thats for good reason. Zoodles are really delicious and they can actually mimic the density and flexibility of real pasta pretty closely.

(In fact, I didnt tell my husband that I was using zucchini noodles the first time I served them to him. It took him about four bites to even tell a difference and when he noticed the substitution, he was actually excited about it!)

In addition, zucchini is really good for you. It is super rich in tons of important vitamins and nutrients, including:

  • Vitamin A (40% of your RDI!)
  • Vitamin B6
  • Vitamin C
  • Vitamin K
  • Copper
  • Folate
  • Magnesium
  • Manganese
  • Potassium
  • Phosphorus
  • Thiamine

Zucchini also includes protein, fiber, iron, calcium, zinc, and other B vitamins. It is low in carbohydrates if you are following a low-carb diet or simply trying to watch your carb intake.

Furthermore, zucchini is high in antioxidants, can support your digestion, may reduce blood sugar levels, can reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes, may improve heart health and blood pressure, and can strengthen your vision.

If you are looking to get healthier, zucchini makes a great addition to your diet. It has a low calorie density and a high water content, which can help you feel full. Zucchinis fiber content can also help you stay feeling fuller for longer which can result in overall lowered calorie intake.

In particular, studies have found that an increased intake of non-starchy, dark green or yellow vegetableslike zucchinican help with weight loss.

So, before you turn up your nose at a pasta substitution like zoodles give it a shot! Your body and waistline will certainly thank you, and odds are good that your tastebuds will, too.

Why You Shouldnt Leave The Parmesan Out Of This Recipe

If you know anything about me, its that comfort food is life.

Im not one of those people who can live off kale. I like things that actually taste good.

This recipe is one of the most comforting, indulgent ones I have. It brings in all the creamy, warming goodness of alfredo recipes, while still managing to be shockingly healthy.

Finally, you can have a chicken alfredo dish that isnt just for cheat days!

The secret is in the zoodles. I was skeptical at first, but once I tried it, I didnt even miss the pasta. It was heavenly!

However, I didnt want to cut out ALL of the ingredients that make a classic chicken alfredo.

And it really isnt necessary to swap out all of the normal ingredients either especially when some of them are pretty dang healthy already.

Take the parmesan, for example. It gives your alfredo sauce that classic cheesy flavor but did you know that it can also help your body increase your metabolism?

Yep, a scientific study found that eating parmesan cheese boosts your bodys metabolism so you can get healthier, no problem.

(No, I didnt pay off the scientists to publish that its actual fact. You + cheese = get healthier.)

So DONT cut the parmesan out of this recipe and maybe even sprinkle a little extra grated parmesan on top for good measure! (I know I will!)

And, the good news gets even better. There are actually two more cheeses you can eat that have also been shown to supercharge your bodys metabolism!
